Design and Technology helps to develop a flexible approach to the problems and opportunities pupils face in a rapidly changing society. It stimulates originality, encourages enterprise and emphasises quality.
Design and Technology is, in the main, a practical subject, which involves the development of practical skills, creativity, problem solving, designing, testing and evaluation. It involves the use of a wide range of processes and materials. Pupils can choose to opt for their preferred Design and Technology subject in Year 9 and have access to a range of accredited courses including GCSE and BTEC.
In Years 10 and 11 pupils may choose from 3 GCSE subjects: Food Technology, Resistant Materials and Electronic Products.
