BTEC  Extended Certificate in Dance.  Pupils who have an interest in Dance can follow a BTEC qualification.  The course is predominately coursework based  but pupils are expected to perform practical dance in front of a wide range of audiences.

Foundation Learning:  In year 9 pupils can follow a foundation learning module in sports leadership.  Here they can develop their leadership skills by accessing the Junior sports leaders award and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

 PE at Longfield

PE develops pupils’ competence and confidence to take part in a range of physical activities that become a central part of their lives, both in and out of school.

A high-quality PE curriculum enables all pupils to enjoy and succeed in many kinds of physical activity. They develop a wide range of skills and the ability to use tactics, strategies and compositional ideas to perform successfully.

PE helps pupils develop personally and socially. They work as individuals, in groups and in teams, developing concepts of fairness and of personal and social responsibility. They take on different roles and responsibilities, including leadership, coaching and officiating. Through the range of experiences that PE offers, they learn how to be effective in competitive, creative and challenging situations.

 KS3 Physical Education

KS3 Subject Content
At key stage three pupils follow a broad curriculum including activities such as swimming, gymnastics, trampolining, dance, hockey, netball, rugby, football and basketball during the winter term. The summer term introduces sports such as tennis, rounders, cricket and athletics. Lessons are based on the five strands for national curriculum assessment and health related fitness plays a large role in this. Pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential and an extensive extra curricular programme supports this.
