The Learning Resource Base (LRB) is a lively and friendly area of the school, where pupils are able to access a wide range of resources. Currently there are 30 computers and over 8500 books in the LRB, in addition to this there is a careers library consisting of information on a wide range of careers.
Reading is a resource for life! We all read for all sorts of reasons and in all sorts of moods: books give us pleasure, comfort, and information.
The more children enjoy reading, the more they will want to read, and so their minds and imaginations will develop and soon they will have the stamina to read the long and sometimes difficult texts they will meet in all subjects.
Young people with good reading skills are able to access a wide range of resources across the curriculum, therefore providing them with the ability to make informative choices as they move to adult life.
In addition to the library facilities, the LRB provides a range of out of hour’s clubs, allowing pupils to develop important social and emotional skills. These include breakfast club, card/games club and homework sessions at lunch time and after school. During these sessions pupils are able to take part in a range of activities including giant Jenga and chess.
