Subject Content KS4

Unit 1 (25%)

1.     Geographical skills – Pupils are taught the useful skill of how to read a map.
2.     The causes, effects and responses to climatic change – Why is the climate of the world changing and how will this affect our children?


Unit 2 (25%)
1.     Tectonic landscapes – What are the causes effects and responses to tectonic activity?
2.     Wasteful World – How can we become more sustainable?

 

Unit 3 (25%)
1.     Population change - What is the population explosion and how does it threaten the human race as a whole?
2.     A Tourist’s world - Different types of holiday resort will be examined, including national parks, coastal resorts, safaris and tropical islands.


Unit 4 - Controlled Assessment (25%)
We will look at how tourism has been managed in Grasmere Village in the Lake District. This will involve a residential fieldwork trip to Grasmere in October or November. Where pupils will collect their primary data and write up the controlled assessments.  (The work will change from year to year depending on the examination board’s requirements.)
