 KS4 History

KS4 Subject Content

Students opting for History will study the OCR Modern World History 1937 syllabus.
This involves a detailed study of many of the events which have shaped the Twentieth Century.

The course is made up of three elements:
The Core: International Relations 1919 - 45
The Cold War 1945 - Present Day
British History
A Study In-depth: Germany 1918 - 45

Coursework -
Controlled Assessment under review.

Final assessment is completed in three stages:
Paper One: There are 3 sections to this 2 hour paper. Sections A & B test the core topics while Section C tests the in-depth study. This paper is worth 45% of the final mark.
Paper Two: This paper lasts for 1½ hours and students have to answer all questions on British History. This is worth 30% of the final grade.

Coursework: Two assessments will be completed of approximately 1000 words.
The topics studied are the USA and Britain and the First World War. This is worth 25% of the final mark.
This subject is highly rewarding to participants. Vital skills such as analysis, research, discussion, selecting and deploying evidence will be improved through the study of this course. The ability to read and study in depth is necessary for success in this subject.
Students who opt for GCSE History will find this course both challenging and enjoyable
