Gcse Business
GCSE Business is made up of 3 units
Unit 1 and Unit 2: Introduction to a Small Business
There are 5 areas of study within this unit
· spotting a business opportunity
· showing enterprise
· putting a business idea into practice
· making the start-up effective
· understanding the economic context.
The assessment is made up of a multiple choice exam followed by a controlled assessment based on an area of unit 1.
Unit 3: Building a Business
Unit 3 is made up of the following 5 areas of study
· marketing
· meeting customer needs
· effective financial management
· effective people management
· the wider world affecting business.
Unit 3 is assessed through a 90 minute exam.
BTEC Business
BTEC Business provides pupils the opportunity to gain a qualification equivalent to 2 GCSE’s Grade A*-C. The course is made up of the following 6 units and the course is course work based so pupils will not have to sit an exam at any point.

Unit 2 Business Organisations 5 2
Unit Optional units choose only one of the following
Unit 3 Financial Forecasting for Business 5 2
Unit 4 People in Organisations
Unit 9 Training and Employment in business
Unit 15 Book keeping for Business
Entry level Certificate (ELC) in Business
Pupils cover 3 areas of study for ELC, Marketing and Enterprise, Business and People and production, Finance and the External business Environment. Pupils will sit 2 examinations and complete 1 piece of coursework.
